Jammu, Nov 25 : In an efforts to integrate the local youth with national mainstream and to promote the sport of Volley ball amongst the local populace, residing in the far flung areas of Poonch Dist, a Rashtriya Rifle Battalion under the aegis of Counter Insurgency Force (Romeo) organised a five days Inter Village District Level Volley Ball Tournament at Mendhar.
The event, in which a total of eighteen teams participated, saw tremendous sportsmanship and enthusiasm in all the matches. All the teams exhibited tremendous enthusiasm and competitive spirit. The final match was played between Papu Club, Mendhar and Govt Higher Secondary School, Harni today. The match was witnessed by the local supporters of both the teams, in which Papu Club, Mendhar was the deserving winner. Both the teams on their part put up a fine display of sportsmanship and discipline.
The occasion was graced by the Village Heads, Sarpanches and Panches of the villages including local populace, who witnessed the keenly contested final. Commanding Officer of the Rashtriya Rifles Battalion distributed the prizes to the winners and runners up teams.
Chowdhary Javed, MLC Mendhar was the chief guest on the occasion who distributed prizes among the winners at runners-up teams.
