REASI, May 16: The District Level Inter-Zonal tournament organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports concluded at Mini Sports Stadium, here today.
Additional Superintendent of Police Reasi, Sanjay Singh Rana was the chief guest on the valedictory function, while DySP (Hqr) Reasi, Mohan Sharma, District Youth & Sports Officer, Dr SS Chib, ZPEO, Om Prakash, ZEPO Pouni, Govind Singh, ZEPO Chassana, Manohar Lal, Subedar Surinder Sharma and a large number of locals were also present on the occasion.
The events were held under the patronage of Director General Youth Services and Sports, Navin Agarwal.
Various zones of District Reasi participated in the meet in the sports disciplines of Kabaddi, Kho-Kho, Volleyball and Wrestling, under the age group of 14 and 17 years.
374 students of different schools of the district participated in this sports meet.
Speaking on the occasion, Rana said sports helps in maintaining good physical and mental health besides a big source of entertainment and enticing the spirit of competence and sportsmanship. He added that sports sprit makes a man more humane and disciplined which enhance one’s capability to live and let live. He also congratulated the members of the organizing committee for the smooth and successful conduct of the tournament.
A colourful cultural programme was also presented by the students of Heritage Public School Reasi, which was appreciated by the gathering.
Meanwhile, in Kabaddi Under-14 girls, Reasi defeated Pouni and in Kabaddi Under-17 girls, Pouni defeated Reasi, while in Kho-Kho Under-14 girls Reasi defeated Pouni and in Under-17 Kho-Kho girls Reasi defeated Pouni.
In Volleyball Under-17 girls Pouni defeated Reasi.
The matches were officiated by Ashok Kumar, Ashoka Kumari, Romesh Chander, Kuldeep Raj, Manzoor Hussain, Bishambar Dass, Ajay Kumar and Ajay Kumar Billa.
