RAMBAN, Sept 30: District Development Commissioner, Ramban, declared the Inter Block District Level Tournament open under Rajiv Gandhi Khel Abhiyan (RGKA) at District Police Lines, here today.
District Development Commissioner, Ramban, Bashir Ahmed Dar was the chief guest and Additional District Development Commissioner, Ravinder Nath Sadhu was the guest of honor on the occasion while District Youth Services and Sports Officer(DYSSO), Jaipal Singh presided over the function.
As many as 8 winning and runners-up teams of the Inter Panchayat Block Level games amongst the 4 erstwhile Blocks (Ramban, Banihal, Gool and Ramsu) of the Ramban district competed in the Volleyball, Kho-Kho, Kabaddi, Wrestling and Athletics today.
Speaking on the occasion, DDC stressed on the importance of sports in the career and fitness of the students and said that the international sports events have assumed a matter of political prestige amongst the big nations.
He assured the players that he would utilize his resources for providing better facilities especially a stadium in the district. He exhorted them to actively participate in the sports without ignoring their studies.
