District Netball C’ship gets underway

JAMMU, Dec 4: District Jammu Netball Championship got underway at Gandhi Nagar Ground, here today.
The championship was organised by the Netball Association of Jammu under the aegis of Netball Association of J&K. The opening witnessed league rounds of the competition in different age groups of boys and girls in under-17, under-19 and seniors.
A total of 150 participants representing different teams in three age categories of boys and girls are participating in the championship, wherein Wolf Pack Club clinched the under-19 boys Gold by outplaying Rebel Club by 18-12 in the final of the championship. The third place in the under-19 boys section went to Eagle Club.
In senior men, Panther Club defeated Eagle Club in the final to secure Gold and 3rd place went to Wolf Pack Club, while in girls under-19 category, Rebel Club trounced Eagle Club by 27-19 in a close contest.
The under-16 boys’ title went to Lion Club by beating Rebel Club in the final, while third place was secured by Wolf Pack Club. Similarly, in the under-16 girls’ category, Lion Club trounced Panther Club in the final.
Rakesh Sharma was a special guest of the event who encouraged the participants for being committed to the game and working hard for the title trophies. He appreciated the Association for the successful conduct and complimented the participants for being disciplined.
Earlier, General Secretary of the Association, Rajiv welcomed the guest and other distinguished gathering and briefed the guests about the championship.
