POONCH, Oct 23: Government Boys Higher Secondary School, Poonch and Government Girls Higher Secondary, Sheeshmahal Reds won the District Poonch Baseball Championship’, which was held at GBHSS, Poonch recently.
While as Reds defeated GGHSS, Sheeshmahal Blues by 18-14 homes, GBHSS, Poonch outplayed GDC, Poonch by (15-11) homes to lift the title. 12 teams each in boys and girls categories from different educational institutions and clubs of the Poonch district participated in the 3-days event.
16-member teams of boys and girls categories also qualified for the ‘8th State Level Baseball Championship’, scheduled to be held at Srinagar from next month.
Principal GBHSS, Poonch, Makhan Lal Sharma was the chief guest on the occasion.
Later, the chief guest alongwith the Principal, GGHSS, Sheeshmahal, Reyaz Ahmad Wani distributed certificates and awards among the players of the finalist teams.
General secretary of J&K Baseball Association (JKBA), Fida Hussain Fidvi was also present on the occasion.
The 3-days event was organized by District Poonch Baseball Association, under the auspices of JKBA, while the Championship was sponsored by J&K State Sports Council.
