RAJOURI, Sept 14: Organised by the District Volleyball Association Rajouri in collaboration with Nawaz Sports Club, the 3-day District Volleyball Championship got underway at Nawaz Public Higher Secondary School Palam, here.
16 boys and 6 girls teams are participating in the event.
In the opening ceremony, Lt Col. Tarlochan Sahni, 156 TA, Palam was the chief guest while Haji Sikander Parvez Khan ZPEO Baljrallan was the guest of honor. Raja Muneer Khan was the special guest on the occasion.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were Mohd Shabir, Sarpanch Nagrota, Mohd Yousif and Haji Majeed.
Meanwhile, 8 matches were played under men’s category, wherein156 TA Palam defeated GDC Rajouri by 3-0 sets in the first match, while in another match GHS Palam trounced Nawaz PHSS Palam by 3-0 sets.
In the third match, Rajouri scripted a 3-1 win over, while in another match, Nawaz Sports Club beat Chapriya by (3-0) sets.
The fifth match played between Baba Sports Club Thanamandi and Mirza Club Badhoon where in Baba Sports Club prevailed upon their rivals by 3-0 sets.
Meanwhile, in girls section two matches were played, wherein Nawaz PHSS Palam defeated Danghri by 3-2 sets, while in the second match GHS Palam got better of Rajouri by 3-1 sets.
The matches were officiated by Gulzar Ahmed, Khalid Hussain, Koushal Kumar, Pawan Kumat, Mohd Kabir, Fiaz-ul- Haq and Kewal Krishan.
Wali Mohd is the organizing secretary of the tournament.
