SAMBA, May 16: The District Level Inter-Zonal Tournament under the age group of 14 and 17 years in the disciplines of kabbadi and kho kho for boys and girls got underway at Kehli Mandi ground, here today. Mubarak Singh, District Development Commissioner, Samba, declared the tournament open in a simple function. Chief Education Officer, Samba, Ravi Dubey, was also present.
Earlier, Jarpal Singh, District Youth Services and Sports Officer Samba welcomed the chief guest and presented detailed report of the tournament. He said that 440 players drawn different institution are participating in this 2-day tournament.
Meanwhile, in U-17 years girls, Samba defeated Gaghwal by 9 points, Purmandel outplayed Ramgarh by 30 points and Vijaypur lost by 30 points against Samba. In kho kho U-14 years boys, Purmandel won by 3 points against Ramgarh and Vijaypur outclassed Gaghwal by 19 points.
Other results: U-14 years boys kabaddi: Vijaypur thrashed Ghagwal by 23 points, Ramgarh drubbed Purmandel by 30 points, while Samba lost to Vijaypur by 18 points.
U-17 years boys kabaddi: Purmandel trounced Ramgarh, Samba lost to Ghaghwal by 18 points, while Purmandel defeated Vijaypur by 10 points.
U-14 years girls kabaddi: Purmandel defeated Vijaypur by 11points and Samba trounced Ramgarh by 13 points.
Among others present were Mohan Singh, Such Dev Singh, Manjeet Kour ZEPO Gaghwal , Dildar Singh, Anirudh Singh Slathia, Vinod Sharma, Kulvir Singh, Rekha Sambyal, Zorawer Singh and Chander Parkash.
