District Silambam Championship gets underway

JAMMU, Nov 30: Jammu District Silambam Champonship, organized by Shastri Memorial Higher Secondary School, Jammu, under the banner of J&K Silambam Association  in the premises  of SMHSS, Patoli, here today.
Sat Sharma, president J&K Silambam Association was the chief guest and Usha Kher was guest of honour.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were Rahul Jamwal, Krishan Sambyal, Amrik Singh, Rohit Sadhotra, Shakti Kohli, Rajneesh Gupta and Rameshwar Singh Jamwal.
Managing Director Ravinder Gupta and Principal, K L Kharu greated the guests on the occasion.
The chief guest declared the Championship open, who later-on distributed trophies among the winners and runners-up teams, besides presenting trophies other dignitaries and officials of the Association and the institution.
The programme of cultural activities was hosted by the MD Ravinder Gupta, while Hari Krishan Dhar, the administrator of the institution anchored the programme and presented vote of thanks.
Earlier, in 35 kg, Manik Baloria of BSF School Paloura won gold, while Harshit Choudhary of the same School bagged silver and the bronze went to Sunil of Shangrila Public School.
Similarly, in 45-kg category, gold was bagged by Pranav Jasrotia of Shangrila School, silver by Goutam of SMS School and bronze by Avneet Singh SMS School.
In 18-kg,  Abishek Sharma SMS School, Devak Shishu Mandir School Digiana and Tarun Kumar of SMS School bagged gold, silver and bronze respectively.
In 20 kg, Yudhvir Singh of BSF School won gold, Mahinder Singh of Shishu Mandir Diagiana bagged silver and Piyush Charak of Shishu Mandir School Digiana and Gurjot of the same institution shared bronze. .
Awdesh BSF School was adjudged as first, Devak of Shishu Mandir School, Digiana bagged second place and the third place went to Ishant of Shishu Mandir School Digiana and Harmeet of the same institution.
