JAMMU, Apr 13: 16th Jammu District Sport Climbing Championship will be organized by Mountaineering Association of J&K in collaboration with Sprawling Buds School, Lakshmi Puram, Chinore on April 27 and 28, 2016.
About 200 climbers from various institutions of Jammu district shall vie for honors in the two day competition. In case the participation exceeds 200 climbers, preliminary rounds of certain categories for Jammu city schools will be conducted a day earlier.
The competitions to be conducted on the pre fabricated 40ft high Tenzing Norgay Sport Climbing Wall in Sprawling Buds school premises will be held in eight categories of Men, Women (born in 1999 or earlier), Boys, Girls (born in 2000,2001 & 2002); Sub Jr. Boys / Girls (born in 2003 and 2004) and Mini Boys/Girls (born in 2005 and after) . Whereas Men, Women, Boys, Girls, Sub Junior Boys/Girls will compete both in ‘lead climbing’ and ‘speed climbing’ the Mini Boys and Girls will participate in ‘lead climbing’ only.

National and Zonal medal winners as well as reigning State champions in all the categories are, however, exempted from registration fee.
Shawetica Khajuria, a qualified national judge in sport climbing will be the president of the Jury of the Competition, while Sonam Sidharth is the Organising Secretary.
The technical and logistic support will be provided by Indian Mountaineering Foundation North Zone Committee, New Delhi.
The championship is being sponsored by J&K State Sports Council.
