JAMMU, Mar 6: Hockey J&K organized District Jammu Senior Men Hockey Championship at KK Hakku Stadium, here today which was inaugurated by Rajeev Sharma, president Hockey J&K.
While inaugurating the championship, Rajeev Sharma stressed upon the players to take the game seriously as after more than 2 years the sports activities are in full swing. He thanked the Secretary Sports Council for the valuable support to uplift the sports in J&K, especially Hockey. He also appreciated the role of Ashok Singh Jamwal Divisional Sports Officer Jammu for his active support.
The first match of championship was played between Champion Hockey Club and Dashmesh Hockey in which Dashmesh Club trounced Champions by 6 goals to nil, while in the 2nd match, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Club defeated Akali Kour Singh Hockey Club by 9 goals to nil.
Jaskaran Singh scored three goals in the 25th, 27th and 48th minutes of the game, while Himanshu and Sukhjit scored two goals each and Kuldeep Singh and Gursevak Singh netted one goal each.
In another match, Young Khalsa Hockey Club defeated KK Hockey Club by 10 goals to 0. In this match Tejveer Singh scored 3 goals, while Tejpal Singh and Damandeep Singh scored 2 goals each and Kavalpreet Singh, Vanshu and Gurpreet Singh scored 1 goal each.
The match between Young Star Hockey Club and Singh Hockey Club Badhurakh Club became very interesting when Bandhurakh scored 1st goal in the 3rd minute of game through young forward Jasjot and stunned the opponent team. However ,an equalizer came from Young Star very soon in the 4th minute through Pranveer Singh. In the 2nd half, Satwant Singh and Pardeep Singh scored 1 goal each and Young Stars won the match by 3 goals to 1.
