SRINAGAR, Jan 29: The District Srinagar Carrom Championship kicked off today at the Sher-i-Kashmir Indoor Sports Complex (SKISC), Srinagar, marking the beginning of a two-day event organized by the Jammu and Kashmir Carrom Association in collaboration with the J&K Sports Council. The championship, which will conclude on January 30, features competitions across Sub-Junior, Junior and Senior categories for both boys and girls, adhering to international standards.
Adil Rashid Shah, President of the J&K Carrom Association, officially inaugurated the event, accompanied by Maqsood Khan, Incharge of SKISC, Arif Sultan Khan, Treasurer of the Association, and other officials. The championship is part of the “My Youth My Pride” initiative by the J&K Sports Council, aiming to promote sports and provide a platform for emerging talent.
On Day 1, fierce competition ensued across various categories. In the Cadet category, Halla Midha and Hassan Adil triumphed in their respective matches, while M Usman and M Nubaid advanced in the Sub-Junior category. In the junior category, M Aiyaan and Ahsan ul Haq claimed victories. In the Senior category, Mehak and Arkan Manzoor dominated in their respective matches.
