District Taekwondo C’ship begins

SAMBA, Nov 12: The District Samba Taekwondo Championship 2024-25 commenced at Indoor Sports Stadium, here today, with an inspiring opening ceremony. Organized by the Taekwondo Association of district Samba under the guidance of the J&K Taekwondo Association (JKTA) and the J&K Sports Council (JKSC), the two-day event has attracted around 300 participants from across district Samba, representing age categories from Sub-Junior to Senior.
The opening ceremony was graced by chief guest Keshav Dutt, DDC Chairman of Samba, and guest of honour Balwan Singh, Vice Chairman of DDC Samba. Special guests included National Referee and JKTA Coach Amit Kumar and JKTA Coach Jagpreet Kour, who offered words of encouragement to the competing athletes.
Rajesh Pangotra, president of the Taekwondo Association of district Samba, and Dr. Kanav Mahajan, Secretary, with Burhan Ud Din Khan serving as the event’s Observer. Organizing Secretary Pankaj Kumar heads the technical team overseeing the matches. Winners from this championship will go on to represent District Samba in the upcoming 27th J&K UT Taekwondo Championship aiming to showcase their talent at the state level.
