District Udhampur Open TT C’ship commences

UDHAMPUR, Oct 10: A three day-long District Udhampur Open Table Tennis Championship commenced at Indoor Sports Hall, here today. The championship was organised under the aegis of J&K Table Tennis Association in collaboration with J&K Sports Council, here today.
Additional Superintendent of Police (Add.SP), Udhampur Anwaar Ul Haq was the chief guest on the occasion. Earlier floral tributes were paid to late Devinder Sharma (Munna Thanda) former General Secretary. Whereas General Secretary of the Association, Tarun in his address said that the only motive behind organising such tournaments is to channelize the energy of youngsters in a positive direction.
There were around 200 participants from every nook and corner of the district participating in this championship. Cadet boys, Sub-Junior Boys, Sub-Junior Girls, Junior Girls matches played and their results are Cadet boys; Sanchit Singh beat Naksh Kumar by 2-1 and enters into the next round, Nandesh Tharmatt beat Amit Kumar by 2-0, boys; Manish Singh Katoch beat Yeshwant Sigatapu by 2-0, Aarav Magotra beat Anoop Singh by 2-1. Sub junior girls; Smriti Suchandra beat Sneha Devi by 2-0 and Ayushi Thakur beat Sharanya Sharma by 2-1.
The matches were officiated by Maninder Singh, Sahil Malgotra, Vinod Sharma, Shubham Kerni and Vikrant Sharma.
