JAMMU, Dec 2: The District Wushu Championship, organized by the Jammu District Wushu Association, kicked off at Bhagwati Nagar, here today. The two-day event is being held under the supervision of Kuldeep Handoo, Dronacharya Awardee, and has seen enthusiastic participation from young athletes across the district.
The championship was inaugurated by Vijay Sharaf, General Secretary of the Wushu Association of India, who praised the efforts of the organizers and encouraged the athletes to pursue their passion for Wushu with dedication and hard work. The event was organized under the leadership of Vishali Majotra (District Secretary) and Kamal Kishore (Organising Secretary), with a dedicated team of officials, including Lalit Manhas, Atul Sharma, Preety, Ruchi Atri, Rajesh Johal, Ashi Jamwal, Abhijeet, Hritik, and Manik, ensuring the smooth conduct of the championship.
On Day 1, the competition saw exciting matches across various categories. In the Under 5 Girls (Below 20kg), Saaysha Majotra won the gold, Yukti Sharma took the silver, and Savi Sharma earned the bronze. In the Under 5 Boys (Below 20kg), Autamash clinched the gold, Agamveer secured the silver, while Tanuj and Mohit earned the bronze. In the Under 7 Boys (Below 32kg), Rahithya Sharma claimed the gold, Aarush took the silver, and Ruansh and Ritul Gupta won the bronze. In the Under 7 Girls (Below 20kg), Ajwa Ashwaq bagged the gold, Amaya earned the silver, while Namaya Gupta and Misti Kotwal clinched the bronze.
