Distt Youth Basketball: STC, KCI register convincing victories

Jammu, Oct 22: SAI training Centre (STC) and KC International registered convincing victories in their opening matches in the District Youth Basketball Championship for boys, which got underway today at MA Stadium basketball arena.
Six matches were played on the opening day, in which KCI won both their matches, beating KV No.2 in the first match by 41-25 and JP World in the second outing by 34-16. Sudhir and Arsh Manchanda displayed good offensive skills for the KCI.
STC who fielded two teams also put up a fine display of aggressive basketball. STC Warriors beat KV No. 2 convincingly by 45-08, while STC Terriers beat Jammu district by 21-17. Gourav Rajwal and Sumit Kumar excelled for the winners.
In the other matches of the day, APS Ratnuchak bt STC terriers 36-24, Hritik Choudhary shining for the winners with 19 points, Jammu district beat APS Nagrota by 28-12, Piyush shining for the winners with 15 points.
Ranjit Kalra, Vice Chairman, District Sports Council was the chief guest during the matches of the evening session. The final will be played on Monday.
The championship is being organized by the J&K Basketball Association and the matches were officiated by a panel of JKBA referees including Ranbir Singh, Mousmi Verma, Rajesh Bandral, Vaneet Pangotra, Rajesh Bhagat, Abhishek, Shubham Sharma, Shubham Bhardwaj and others.
