Div Com distributes scholarship cheques among medalists of National Level Competitions, NSG participants

JAMMU, June 15: Department of Youth Services and Sports organized prize distribution function at General Zorawar Singh Auditorium, University of Jammu for the students, who excelled in National and District Level Competitions.
On the occasion, Dr Pawan Kotwal, Divisional Commissioner Jammu was the chief guest.
A colorful cultural programme was presented by the students of Government Girls High School Sangrampur, Government High School Marh Bagh, Mahant Ram Lakhan Dass Memorial School, Dewan Devi Higher Secondary School and J&K Police Public School. There was also demonstration of Yoga and Fencing on the occasion.
Dr Pawan Kotwal said the performance exhibited by the player testify that our State has potential of sports talent and quoted the example of the countries like Roman and Greece for the importance of sports activities.
Earlier, Rishi Kumar, Deputy Director, Department of Youth Services and Sports and organizing secretary of the function presented the welcome address and detailed note of the activities conducted during the current year.
He said that distribution of the prizes and sports kits is a tool to involve maximum number of student players in the coming events.
Later, Divisional Commissioner distributed scholarship cheques of Rs 10,000, Rs 7,000 and Rs 5,000 respectively among 20 players who won medals at National Level Competitions and Rs 1750 each among 57 players for their participation in National School Games.
Moreover, Winner and Runners-Up teams of Inter-Zonal District Level Tournaments under the age group of 14 and 17 years in boys and girls sections were also felicitated by the chief guest. Besides scholarship cheques and Prizes, Sports Kits were also provided to 60 High and Middle Schools of 14 Zones of the Jammu District for their proper utilization in the Schools.
Among others present were RupinderJeet Kour, Assistant Director Youth Services and Sports Jammu, Sukhdev Raj Sharma, District Youth Services and Sports Officer Jammu, District Youth Services and Sports Officers of Jammu Division, Zonal Physical Education Officers, Physical Education Lecturers, Physical Education Masters, Physical Education Teachers and parents of the players.
