JAMMU, Nov 7: Divisional Commissioner Shantmanu reviewed the Assembly elections preparedness through video conference with District Election Officers of Jammu region here today.
He discussed measures for ferrying the poll staff and carriage of poll equipments to far-flung areas through helicopter services.
Shantmanu urged upon the District Election Officers to ensure all the arrangements for facilitating election staff and security staff and carriage of equipment to the far-flung areas of the districts especially Reasi, Kishtwar, Doda and Poonch which remain cut-off from the district headquarters due to heavy snowfall.
The District Election Officers of Reasi, Kishtwar and Poonch informed the Divisional Commissioner about number of polling centers in their districts remain cut off because of bad weather and helicopter service is essential for sending election staff, security staff and equipments in these areas.
Other issues discussed in the meeting related to relief to flood victims and availability of ration in hilly areas, etc.
Among others, District Election Officer Jammu Ajeet Kumar Sahu, Additional Commissioner Rehana Batul, Joint Director CAPD Dr. Manmohan Singh, officers of BPCL, BSNL, Indian Oil and other concerned departments were present in the meeting.
