Jammu, Aug 28: Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, Sanjeev Verma today convened a string of meetings to review the progress of anti-encroachment drive and construction of bunkers along International Border (IB) in Jammu Division.
In the first meeting, the Div Com sought a detailed report on the status of encroached land besides removal of illegal structures and retrieval of encroached State land in the division.
The meeting was attended by all Deputy Commissioners and SSPs of Jammu Division (through video conference), VC JDA, P S Rathore, Director I&C, Dr R S Sharma, Director Agriculture, H K Razdan, SSP Jammu, Vivek Gupta, SSP PCR Jammu, Kulbir Singh, GM DIC Jammu, A K Khajuria, ACR Jammu, Nissar Ahmed, DGM Housing Board, Rajesh Abrol, DFO (SF) Jammu, Neha Mehta and besides other officers.
The DCs briefed the Div Com about their future course of action plan to retrieve all the encroached State land in their respective districts. The meeting was informed that the process of removal of illegal structures is in full swing.
The Div Com directed the DCs to expedite the retrieval process and further asked them to handover the vacant state land to different departments for productive utilization like development of sports and agriculture fields.
The DCs were directed to identify suitable land for developing sports stadiums at block and district level.
In another meeting, Divisional Commissioner reviewed the progress on construction of bunkers along International Border (IB) in Jammu Division.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner, Jammu, Ramesh Kumar (in person), Deputy Commissioners of Kathua, Samba, Rajouri and Poonch (through video conference), Chief Engineer R&B Sudheer Shah, SE PWD, N D Khajuria besides Engineers from PWD and other officers.
The DCs apprised the Div Com about the present status of progress being made for the construction and allotments of individual and community bunkers in their respective districts.
The Div Com asked the DCs and executing agencies to chalk out strategy to expedite the work for construction of bunkers.
Earlier, a delegation of transporters from Jammu called on Divisional Commissioner and submits their demands.
The delegation put forth various issues pertaining to development of transport yard road, check on overloaded vehicles, municipal fees and other similar issues.
Redressing the issues, the Div Com assured the delegation that all their genuine issues and demands will be considered for the interest of the transporters as well for the State’s economy. He asked the delegation to share the information of overloaded vehicles with the Traffic department.
IGP Jammu, Dr SD Singh , Deputy Commissioner, Jammu, Ramesh Kumar, SSP Traffic Joginder Singh, Commissioner JMC, Arvind Kotwal, GM JKPCC, Javaid Iqbal, RTO Jammu, Deep Raj were present in the meeting.
