SRINAGAR, Feb 22: Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Dr Asgar Hassan Samoon today directed the concerned departments and executing agencies to speed up the work on prestigious highway and tunnel projects in Kashmir division.
Dr Samoon said this while reviewing the progress of various projects during a high-level meeting which was attended by officers of PHE, PDD, R&B, Beacon, NHAI, Jayank and other organizations.
The Deputy Commissioners of Ganderbal, Anantnag, Shopian, Kupwara, Kargil and Leh also attended the meeting through video conferencing.
The Divisional Commissioner was informed that a Preliminary Project Report (PPR) for 11 km Mughal Road tunnel has been completed at a cost of Rs 2.76 crore which will be submitted to the Government soon.
The meeting was told that tunnel once built will make the road an all weather connectivity. Besides, a slope stabilization project worth Rs 226 crore that involves widening at certain vulnerable places on the road has already been submitted to the centre.
The Deputy Commissioner Shopian informed the meeting that road-clearing work will start from March 15 onwards after considering the weather condition.
Regarding the Z-Morh tunnel, the meeting was informed that the work is going on at full pace. Besides, the concerned officials told that a muck recycling plant will be set up at the site that will use the debris excavated from the tunnel for construction work and will go a long way in protecting the environment at the place.
The Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal said that land has been already allotted to the concerned agency for dumping site and raising of structures necessary for the work.
Dr Samoon directed the Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal to complete the disbursal of compensation in lieu of acquisitions within the next two weeks. He asked the district administration to start single window clearance for remaining permissions of the project.
The Deputy Commissioner said that Rs 20 crore have already been dispersed among the affected people.
Regarding Rs 9090 crore Zojila tunnel to be constructed by IRB Company, the meeting was informed that the ground work will start at the site within the next six months.
The Divisional Commissioner also took stock of Qazigund-Srinagar, Narbal double laning, Uri-Baramulla, Kokernag, Chowkibal-Tangdhar and other road projects. He asked the officials to work in synergy with other departments and contractors to speed up the pace of work on prestigious developmental projects.
