Div Comm reviews winter arrangements in Valley

SRINAGAR, Nov 17: To ensure availability of basic facilities to people during winter, snow clearance from all the major roads, link roads and lanes in Kashmir division and to regulate traffic, a meeting of officers of divisional administration was convened here today by the Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Rohit Kansal.
The meeting was attended by the Chief Engineers of R&B, PHE, PDD, Mechanical Engineering Department, Beacon, Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Commissioner SMC, Director CA&PD Kashmir, Project Manager National Highway and other concerned officers.
The SMC authorities were asked to ensure clearance of snow from all lanes and by-lanes in the Srinagar district and gear up its men and machinery for dewatering of inundated areas of the district during winter.
Giving details of stock and supply position of essentials in the Kashmir valley, it was informed that sufficient stocks of essentials are available in the Valley for distribution among consumers.
The Divisional Commis-sioner directed the CA&PD authorities to mobilize its checking squads to curb profiteering, hoarding and black marketing in the valley. The traffic authorities have been asked to set up a control room to keep the people aware about the status of the National Highway.  He asked the BSNL authorities to ensure better service during the inclement weather situation in the valley.
The Divisional Commis-sioner urged the officers to work in tandem so that people do not face any inconvenience during the inclement weather situation.
He enjoined upon the Chief Engineers of Mechanical and R&B Departments to be prove active in clearance of snow besides ensure availability of snow cutters and manpower so that people in Valley are facilitated during snowfall.
