JAMMU, Sept 9: Divisional Level Inter-District competitions in the disciplines of Wrestling Under-14 and Under-17 boys and Throwball Under-19 boys and girls, organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports, got underway here today.
The competitions are being held under the patronage of Director General Youth Services and Sports, Navin Aggarwal and under the overall supervision of Ved Parkash, Deputy Director Youth Services and Sports, Jammu.
In Wrestling 32 kg Under-14 boys, Ajay Kumar of Udhampur bagged gold, Mohd Altaf of Reasi silver and Nazir Hussain of Samba won bronze, while in Under-14 boys 35 kg, Madan Singh of Reasi, Rajinder Kumar of Udhampur and Ravi Sharma of Samba clinched gold, silver and bronze respectively.
In Under-14 boys, 38 kg, Surjeet Singh of Reasi and Ashwani Kumar of Jammu claimed gold and silver respectively, while Gulzar Ahmed of Doda and Sumit Kumar of Reasi bagged gold and silver in Under-14 boys 50 kg category.
In Under-14 boys 55 kg, Muntassir of Doda and Vishal Mehra of Jammu bagged gold and silver medals respectively, while Under-14 boys 60 kg gold went to Shabir Ahmed of Samba.
Meanwhile, in Wrestling Under-17 boys 42 kg, Pawan Singh of Samba, Sunil of Doda and Ganesh of Udhampur claimed gold, silver and bronze medals respectively, while in 46 kg, Mohd Irshad of Reasi, Ajaz Hussain of Doda and Pawan Kumar of Udhampur claimed gold, silver and bronze medals respectively.
Chain Singh of Reasi, Mohd Saleem of Udhampur and Jagdev Singh of Samba claimed gold, silver and bronze in Under-17 boys 50 kg, while in 54 kg, Akram Khan of Samba bagged gold, Vishal Singh of Samba claimed silver and Akshay of Doda clinched bronze.
In Undere-17 boys, 58 kg, Seva Ram of Doda, Phar Singh of Ramban and Mukhtar Ali of Samba claimed gold, silver and bronze respectively, while in Under-17 boys 63 kg, Shabir Ahmed of Doda bagged gold, Riaz Hussain of Samba claimed silver.
In Under-17 boys 69 kg, gold and silver went to Abdul Rashid of Samba and Sunil Kumar of Jammu respectively, while in Under-17 boys 76 kg, Dheeraj Singh of Udhampur claimed gold, while the silver in this event went to Rashid Ahmed of Jammu.
Meanwhile, in Throwball Under-19 boys final, Doda defeated Jammu by (2-0) sets, while in Throwball Under-19 girls final, Jammu drubbed Doda by (2-0) sets.
The matches were officiated by Rakesh Kumari, Poonam Kotwal, Kulbir Singh, Govind Singh, Basant Ram, Dheeraj, Raman Kumar, Subash and Vishal.
