DLMC reviews functioning of private cable television network

JAMMU, Mar 11: The District Development Commissioner Jammu Ajeet Kumar Sahu today chaired the District Level Monitoring Committee to discuss in detail various aspects of the Cable Television Network (Regulation) Act 1995 and the functioning of the private cable television network in the district. The committee has been constituted to provide regular feedback to the State-level committees so that possible action is taken against networks which violate the Government norms.
The DDC stressed on proper monitoring to ensure compliance to the provisions issued by TRAI and said a Sub Committee will be constituted that will look into the complaints of the consumers in this regard, adding that consumers can register their complaints at Toll Free No. 1077
The monitoring committees will review and deliberate on the litany of complaints received and take decisions on the matters referred to them in accordance with the opinion of the majority of the members present at the meeting.
Mr. Sahu stressed for compulsory installation of Set Top Box in Jammu district.
Later, the District Level Media Certification and Monitoring Committee Jammu which met under the chairmanship of District Election Officer reviewed the cases of any Model Code of Conduct Violations and Paid News. Threadbare discussions were held on the issues pertaining to the MCC and guidelines for paid news.
The meeting was attended by Additional DC Kalyan Singh, Joint Director Information Jammu Smita Sethi, Senior Superintendent of Post Office Jammu Rattan Lal, DSP Vivek Shekhar, Educationist and Social Activitist Dr. Rita Jatindera, Deputy Director Information Jammu Jyoti Slathia, Advocate S. S. Lehar and other concerned officers.
