SRINAGAR, July 20: To provide succour to the victims of cloud bursts, Executive Chairman, J&K State Legal Services Authority, Justice Mohammad Yaqoob Mir, today directed the Chairpersons of District Legal Services Authorities of Ganderbal, Pulwama, Anantnag, Kupwara and Baramulla, to constitute Core Groups headed by Judicial Officers in terms of NALSA Scheme for Legal Services to Disaster Victims through Legal Services Authorities.
These Core Groups will coordinate with the district administration in ensuring evacuation of victims of cloud bursts to temporary shelter camps (relief camps) opened in these districts and ensure smooth distribution of relief material to them besides open temporary Village Legal Care and Support Centres for these victims manned by PLVs. The Core Group will also transmit the grievances of the victims of disaster to district administration for redressal and assess the damage caused to life and property of the victims so that cases are processed expeditiously by the district administration for disbursement of relief to them.
Meanwhile, the Chairmen DLSA have also been directed to submit the consolidated report to the J&K State Legal Services Authority for onward communication to the National Legal Services Authority.
