Doda boys bag Volleyball title in Zonal Sports festival

JAMMU, Mar 15: Trouncing Udhampur Club convincingly in the summit clash, Doda Volleyball Boys Club clinched the title trophy in the ongoing Zonal Level Police Sports Festival for Boys & Girls, being organized by Zonal Police Headquarters Jammu at Gulshan ground, here.
The Festival which includes Cricket, Football, Kabbadi, Volleyball, Kho-Kho, Tug of War and Athletics is being organized under the overall supervision of IGP Jammu, Dr SD Singh Jamwal, while Rajesh Sharma, SO to IGP Jammu is the in-charge of organizing team and Rajesh Gill, Chief Prosecuting Officer and Member Sports Council Jammu is the Coordinator of the event. The slogan of the sports festival is ‘Let’s Play to Keep Stress Away’.
Ramesh Kotwal, SP Headquarters Jammu was the chief guest in today’s proceedings, who was introduced with the participating teams on the occasion.
Later on, the chief guest in presence of Mr Gill distributed trophies and medals among the winners and the runners-up teams of the event.
In the Volleyball final, Doda Club defeated Udhampur Club by 2-1 (25-23, 16-25, 15-13).
Earlier, in the semifinals, Doda Club beat Ramban Club by 2-1 (19-25, 25-23, 17-15) and while Udhampur Club outplayed Bhaiya Club Kathua by 2-1 (22-25,16-25, 15-7).
In Football, Hiranagar Football Club blanked Ramban Club by 6-0 goals, while in Kabaddi final, Jammu Club beat Doda Club by 8 points.
In Cricket, Balhar Club Kathua beat Ranbir School in a close contest by 7 runs. Batting first, Balhar Club Kathua scored 137 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in the 15 overs. Raghu (34), Aditya Sharma (21) and Shubam (13) were the main contributors. From bowling side, Vivrant took 3 wickets, while Govind bagged 2 wickets. Kanaihya and Vishal shared 1 wicket each.
In reply, Ranbir School managed to score 130 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in the stipulated 15 overs, thus lost the match by 7 runs. Vivrant (72), Imran (22) and Vinayak (15) were the main scorers. From bowling side Shivam, Ghotam, Nitin and Ritik took 1 wicket each. Raghu was adjudged as the man of the match.
In another match HCC Ram Nagar beat Faridia Model HSS Doda in an easy contest.
Batting first, FMHSS Doda scored 114 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in the allotted 15 overs. Abrar, Umar Shafi and Zeshan contributed 36, 23 and 13 runs resepctively. From bowling side, Ajeet and Manjeet took 2 wickets each while Udhay claimed 1 wicket.
In reply, HCC Ram Nagar chased the target in 13.2 overs by losing 1 wicket, thus won the match by 9 wickets. Udhay and Gokul contributed 48 runs each. From the bowling side, Aseem took the lone wicket to fall. Udhay was declared as the man of the match. The matches were officiated by Chamel Singh, Gurbachan Singh, Narinder Pal Sharma, Ravinder Singh, Dheeraj Sharma, Rohit Sharma, Saleem-Ur-Rehman, Sadiq Hussain, Farooq, Jagtar Singh, Madan Mohan, Sandeep and Sanju.
