Doda Cricket League inaugurated

DODA, Nov 5: Doda Cricket League, being organised by Army was inaugurated at sports stadium here today.
The event was declared open by Company Commander, Indian Army Doda in a gala inauguration ceremony attended by 32 teams and approximately 150 locals.
The championship will be conducted over a period of 15 days from today to November 19. Participating teams are from Doda district.
The event is aimed at promoting sports amongst youth from remote villages of the area to positively engage them and provide platform to indentify talented players to participate at State and National level. Sports also foster a healthy spirit of competition, discipline and will to excel amongst youth driving them to work hard. Cricket also binds students irrespective of caste, colour, creed and religion, thus promoting social and communal harmony.
The people of the area said that this step will help in giving a boost to development of sports in Doda region and also foster social and communal harmony among students.
