JAMMU, Sept 4: Dogra College of Education, Bassi Kalan, Bari Brahmana, Jammu celebrated its 20th Annual Day Function in the College premises with pomp and show, here today.
The proceedings of the programme began with lighting of traditional lamp followed by Saraswati Vandana and the presentation of various cultural items.
Welcome Address was delivered by Prof Shefali Sharma, Vice Principal Dogra College of Education which was followed by presentation of Annual Report by Prof B D Damral, Director-cum- Principal, Dogra College of Education.
Th Gulchain Singh Charak, former Minister of Higher Education J&K State, and Chairman, Dogra Educational Trust presided over the function.
In his presidential remarks, he stressed upon the role of productive teachers in shaping the personality of the young students in the desired directions. He also emphasized upon the need and importance of teacher education in order to shape the future destiny of the nation. Mubarak Singh, Deputy Commissioner, Samba was the guest of honour, who also spoke on the occasion and stressed upon the role of teacher education institutions during the present times.
Colourful cultural programme including Fusion Dance (Dogri, Ladakhi, Kashmiri and Gojri), Rajasthani Dance, Qawali, Punjabi Folk Dance (Gidda) andGroup Song, captivating the audience, was presented by the students of the College on the occasion.
Kr Samar Dev Singh Charak Secretary Dogra Educational Trust, Kr Gambhir Dev Singh Charak Member Trustee, (DET), Prof B D Damral Director-cum-Principal Dogra College of Education, Prof N R Sharma, Head, Department of Education, Central University of Jammu, Prof M L Parwana, Former Principal, Govt College of Education, Jammu Dr Samaya Tabusum, Principal Dogra Law College, Dr Shivani Singh, Principal, Dogra Degree College, Mrs Bela Thakur, Academic Coordinator, Dogra College of Education and the reputed dignitaries of the locality were also present to grace the occasion.
Prizes and mementos were also distributed among the outstanding students of the session.
The 9th issue of the Annual College Magazine “SHIKSHAK” was also released on the occasion.
The programme concluded with the vote of thanks presented by Bela Thakur, Sr Lecturer of the College.
