JAMMU, Aug 13: Dogra Educational Trust organised a befitting scholarship award ceremony for the meritorious students of Dogra Group of Colleges including Dogra College of Education, Dogra Law College and Dogra Degree College, here.
Prof Manoj Kumar Dhar, Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu was the chief guest on the occasion, whereas Prof Rajni Kant Director Colleges Development Council was guest of honour, and the event was presided over by Gulchain Singh Charak, former Minister for Higher Education and chairman of the Trust.
The event was organized to encourage academic achievers from all the three Colleges wherein cheques worth Rs 412000 were distributed among the meritorious students wherein distinction holders were awarded with Rs 5000 each, whereas Rs 7000 was given to each position holder of University level examination.
The programme started with the lighting of traditional lamp, followed by Saraswati Vandana. While congratulating the meritorious students, the chief guest Prof Manoj Kumar Dhar appreciated the Colleges management for honouring the academic achievers by providing such a handsome amount as scholarship. He motivated the students to improve their technical skills for being market ready, sticking to moral grounds and working diligently to achieve their goals.
The Director Colleges Development Council, University of Jammu in his address applauded the academic achievers and motivated them to keep working hard with patience and dedication in order to excel in academics as well as career, whereas former Minister, Gulchain Singh Charak advised them to have a professional goal in their mind, make efforts in the right direction and blessed them with his motivational words.
On this special occasion, the 3rd volume of annual College magazine “Nostalgia- A remembrance” of Dogra Degree College was also released by the dignitaries.
Earlier, the welcome address was presented by Bela Thakur, Principal Dogra Degree College, whereas formal vote of thanks was presented by Samar Dev Singh Charak, secretary Dogra Educational Trust and the programme was hosted by Priyanka Sharma and Aditi Khajuria, faculty members of the College.
