JAMMU, May 13: The workers of Dogra Front and Shiv Sena under the leadership of Ashok Gupta took out a protest in Jammu city against the shortage of electricity by carrying electric fans in their hands.
Mr Gupta stated that there is a eight hour cut in the rural areas and four hours cut in the urban areas, which has made the lives of people miserable or living hell.
The PDD doesn’t have the miscellaneous head to meet the miscellaneous needs of the department. A truck collided with an electricity transformer pole nearby Satwari area but the department doesn’t have miscellaneous head due to which the money could not be allotted to replace or buy a new pole which has led to the power cuts in the area. He further stated that if the departments doesn’t have the appropriate amount of man power or the management than the position of the department is very critical as then it should be either provided with the appropriate number of people or the department should be dissolved.
Due to the erratic power cuts the water could not be pumped from the water stations which has led to a situation of drought among the people as no water supply has send the people back in the cave man era where there is no provision of water and electricity. The area of Tartarocha, Bhalwal, Bawatla, Kandi(Samba), Kandi(Kathua), Maad, Jahoriya are suffering water shortage since past 15 days as there is no electricity to pump the water.
A Coordination Committee should be formed for Jammu area for water and electricity as when the secretariat shifts to Srinagar the Jammu is totally neglected. The committee will keep an eye on the needs of the people and will resolve the problems reporting directly to the CM.
