JAMMU, June 26: Workers of Dogra Front and Shiv Sena under the leadership of Ashok Gupta took out a procession from Bishnah Chowk to Bishnah Electricity Office and ghearoed the office in protest against the 10 hour power cut in Jammu city and 16 hour power cut in rural areas.
The protestors raising anti Government slogans said that this way they have been taken to back stone age by the Coalition Government. They said despite paying the power bill in time the people are facing power crisis and 10 to 16 hour long black outs in this scorching heat.
Addressing the protestors Ashok Gupta said that Jammu province gives a revenue of Rs 1013 crore to the Electricity Department and still Jammu is facing a 10 hour electricity cut while the Kashmir valley only gives a revenue of Rs 700 crore out of which Rs 400 crore comes from Government Departments and there is only two hour power cut in Valley. This shows total impartial and inadequate behaviour of the State Government.
Due to the power crisis people also face water scarcity as the PHE Department is not able to supply water to the people which has also compounded their problems in this scorching heat.
Gupta said crores of rupees are outstanding against bureaucrats and Ministers still they are enjoying round the clock power supply while the common people who are paying their bills in time are made to suffer.
Gupta said the quota of ration to the BPL has been fixed at 35 kgs for wheat and rice but the State Government is providing 5 kgs of wheat and 5 kgs of rice to people with the result the majority of people are facing scarcity of ration.
