Dogra Law College organizes Inter-School Debate Competition

JAMMU, Feb 4: Dogra Law College organized 7th Matushri Inter-School Debate Competi-tion on the topic ‘Security Cameras are an Invasion of Privacy’, here.
The debate competition which is an annual feature of Dogra Law College and is organized in the fond memory of Lakho Devi, mother of Th Gulchain Singh Charak, former Minister and Chairman, Dogra Educational Trust. She was lovingly called ‘Matushri’ by the villagers of Bassi Kalan.
In all, 18 students drawn from prominent schools of Jammu participated in the contest.
Th Gulchain Singh Charak, Former Minister and the Chairman, Dogra Educational Trust, presided over the function, while Kr Samar Dev Singh Charak, Secretary, Dogra Educational Trust, Kr. Gambhir Dev Singh Charak, Trustee, Dogra Educational Trust, SC Khajuria, Director, ADM & CD, Dogra Educational Trust, Bela Thakur, Principal, Dogra Degree College, Prof VP Magotra, Principal, Dogra Law College and Dr Vikesh Sharma, Principal, Dogra College of Education were present in the function.
Mr Charak stressed upon the importance of organizing such type of Debate Competitions so that the youth can enhance the ability to structure and organize thoughts.
He further said that it instills in the debater a great sense of confidence, adding that deliberating upon such topics  help in the overall personality of children and the development of nation as well.
Dr. Vijay Sehgal from Law Department, University of Jammu, Dr Sadaf Shah, Department of English, University of Jammu, and Dr Sapna Sangra, Department of Sociology, University of Jammu were the jury members.
Divya Sharma from Rich Harvest School Bari Brahmana bagged First Prize, Varinda  from K C International School Jammu claimed Second Prize and Khushi Gupta from Heritage School Sainik Colony won Third Prize. The Consolation prizes were won by Gungun Anand from Jodhamal Public School, Mehak Verma from Heritage school and Alina Mir from Jodhamal Public School. And the running trophy was clinched by Rich Harvest School.
Vrinda Charak, Student, Dogra Law College conducted the proceedings of the debate, while Dr Komila Aggarwal, Senior Assistant Professor presented the vote of thanks.
Sumiksha Razdan, Adv. Teacher, Dogra Law College and Etika Gupta, Asst Prof, Dogra Law College convened the function.
Prominent among other Staff members present on the occasion were Shuchi Sharma, Sparshika Jain, Aarti Gupta, Ramnik Bali, Arushi Khajuria, Gopika Sharma and Parema Bakshi.
