Dogri Sanstha releases Gyaneshwar’s ‘Sajri Rutt’

JAMMU, Apr 7: A new collection of Dogri poems ‘Sajri Rutt’ by the celebrated poet Gyaneshwar was released in an impressive function held at KL Saigal Hall here today in the presence of a huge gathering of writers, artists and intellectuals representing different languages.
Sarswati Awardee and iconic Dogri litterateur of international eminence, Padma Sachdev, crusader for the cause of Dogri, former Minister, Sham Lal Sharma, noted Dogri writer, Dr Om Goswami along with Chhatrapal, president, Dogri Sanstha, Jammu released the book.
Brought out by M/s Anu Prakashan, Karan Nagar, ‘Sajri Rutt’ is a long poem composed in 50 segments with emotional intensity and consistently poetic, taking up strict form and carrying it through the whole poem.
While speaking on the occasion, chief guest, Sham Lal Sharma, said that Gyaneshwar, a Sahitya Academi awardee, is a trend setter in Dogri poetry. He has enriched the language of Dogras and has been very active to further the cause of Dogri.
Sharma strongly supported the demand of Dogri Sanstha to introduce Dogri language as a subject in all the schools of Jammu Region. He condemned the blatant discrimination meted out to Dogri by the elected representatives of Jammu sharing power with Kashmir centric Government.
Presiding over the function, Padma Sachdev lamented growing distance of children from their mother tongue, which he said, has emerged as major challenge for the future of the language and the traditional knowledge. It was due to relentless efforts of Dogri Sanstha that some success was achieved in introducing Dogri as one of the subjects in few schools and colleges.
On this occasion, Susheel Begana, eminent poet, presented an introductory paper on the book elaborating the qualities and significance of long poem while Gyaneshwar enthralled the audience by reciting some of his choicest poems.
Earlier welcoming the audience, Chhatrapal threw light on the literary journey of Gyaneshwar who has encapsulated great meaning in encyclopedic manner on the most ecstatic facets of nature in ‘Sajri Rutt.
