Srinagar, Mar 19: As the 71st B N Mullik Memorial All India Police Football Championship approached the final stage, today exciting matches were played among the women’s and men’s football teams.
The finale of the Women’s Championship was played at Synthetic Turf Ground TRC Srinagar where ADGP Kashmir graced the occasion as the chief guest.
The final clash for the title between Mizoram Police & Assam Rifles is scheduled for tomorrow on 1.20 pm at Bakshi Stadium, Srinagar.
Before the match, ADGP Kashmir interacted with players of both teams and congratulated them for their exemplary performances throughout the championship.
He lauded all the women’s teams who performed in the Championship for showing courage and displaying their skills which encouraged the local youth of the Valley.
He also praised the J&K Police women’s football team for enticing local women towards sports activities.
Speaking on the occasion, ADGP Kashmir said that the main motive of such types of activities is to attract the youth to sports besides, refrain them from doing any ill activities which are harmful to them as well as to society.
The women’s football final was played at Synthetic Turf TRC Ground between Assam Rifles & SSB team.
The mouth-watering match was witnessed by a huge crowd who were supporting their favourite teams. During the match, tense moments were seen for the crowd as their favourite teams tried to dominate the opposite side.
SSB women’s team tried various attempts but could not break the defence of Assam Rifles which gave Assam Rifles the edge to win the championship at the end by the margin of 3.1.
Pertinently, before the final match, the CRPF women and Odisha women’s teams played a hard liner match for achieving 3rd position which ended with the win of the CRPF women’s team by 2.0.
In the men’s competition, two semi-finals were played between Assam Rifles and Kerala Police at Kashmir University Ground and Mizoram Police & Punjab Police at Bakshi Stadium Srinagar.
The match between Assam Rifles & Kerala Police was played with great fervour as the road to the finals has not been easy for either team.
However, their resilience and fighting spirit has seen them through the challenges and today they fought for the glory. Assam Rifles managed to break the wall to enter the finale of the Men’s Championship by defeating Kerala Police by 3.0.
Another nail-biting semi-final contest between Mizoram Police and Punjab Police witnessed thrilling efforts by both teams at Bakshi Stadium Srinagar.
Both the teams tried their highest level of skills to dominate the opposite team to enter the finale. However, Mizoram Police scored the marginal goal and entered the finale of the championship by 2.1.
