Dorjey reviews development scenario in Durbuk-Changthang

LEH, July 20: Minister for Cooperatives, Chering Dorjey during his extensive tour of Durbuk Changthang, today visited Kargyam Burma Sattoo, Yerath, Chilam and Salong-la to review the development scenario in the area.
On the occasion, large number of people met the Minister and highlighted various development related issues for consideration of the Government.
At Kargyam Burma, people demanded better mobile connectivity and asked for a BSNL mobile tower for the area. They also requested for enhanced flow of funds under BADP and opening Kargyam Satto valley to tourists to promote tourism in the area. The Minister assured that he will take up the issues at the appropriate forum
Councilor Chuchul requested Minister to take up the issue of construction of road along Pangong lake-Hill Manmerak which will be of great benefit to the people.
Earlier, the Minister convened a public meeting at Chuchul where the villagers demanded opening of a bank, improving LPG cylinder distribution and to construct a hostel facility for high school, Chuchul.
Responding to the requests, the Minister said that soon a cooperative bank branch will be opened in Chuchul and efforts will also be made to open a branch of SBI at the earliest. He said that LPG would be provided through cooperative society.
Later, in the evening, the Minister also inspected the 90KV solar plant installed by LREDA. The Minister directed the concerned to make the plant functional at the earliest.
