JAMMU, Sept 30: Duggar Pradesh Party (DPP) has strongly condemned the State Government for not handling the transporters issue well in time even after their various warnings to go on strike in support of their demands.
The strike, which caused disruption and inconvenience to the general public and paralyzed the whole system, was actually called on the behest of Government to justify the proposed demand of enhancement of bus fares before the public and put more burden on the poor people by enhancing the various fares.
President, DPP, Uday Chand, criticized the State Government for not having any transport policy for years together and surrendering to the private transporters by making State Road Transport Corporation defunct.
The Party demanded that both State and Central Governments be exempted 50% tax on all petroleum products after which there would be no need of enhancing the fares of public transport not only in J&K but whole of the Country.
