JAMMU, Nov 26: Delhi Public School, Jammu, embraced the spirit of unity and spirituality as it organized a special assembly commemorating Gurpurab, marking the birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji.
The assembly opened with a soulful prayer led by Kamya Sanmotra (IX), creating an atmosphere of peace, followed by an insightful thought of the day shared by Akshat Salathia (IX). The students then presented a captivating “Shabad Kirtan,” praising Guru Nanak Dev Ji, with Gunnat Singh (VI) and Kavit Kaur (IX) on tabla and harmonium, respectively. Harveer Singh (V) showcased the Kyansee, and Arjun Aryan’s (VIII) Guitar performance added to the enchanting atmosphere.
Bhavjyot Singh (IX) delivered an enthusiastic speech on Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s life and teachings, emphasizing universal values such as One God, brotherhood, love, humility, simplicity, equality, and tolerance.
The Gurpurab Assembly also included a prize distribution ceremony, acknowledging students’ excellence in sports and extracurricular activities. Ruchi Chabra, the Principal of DPS Jammu appreciated the winners and elucidated the meaning of “Gurpurab,” highlighting Guru Nanak Ji’s timeless teachings, encouraging all to follow them for a prosperous and enlightened society. The entire event was skilfully compered by Kriday Misri (X) and Samiksha (XI).
