JAMMU, Aug 30: Delhi Public School (DPS), Jammu organised investiture ceremony in the school premises today.
The event was graced by DPS alumni, Dr Owais Ahmed, Asstt Secretary, Ministry of Urban Development, Government of India as chief guest and DPS alumni Rahul Mahajan, Department of Finance and Audit, Manisha Gupta, CA and Dr Umar Riaz from GMC as guest of honour. Harsh Dev Singh Jamwal, Former Minister for Education, Taranjeet Singh Gujral, Principal DPS Nagbani, Raj Kumar Verma and the parents of the students were also present on the occasion.
While speaking, Ruchi Chabra, Principal of the school outlined the progress made by the premier institution DPS Jammu and encouraged the students and the faculty members to work together for overall development. She also led the students’ cabinet to take the pledge of allegiance to their school flag.
The newly inducted members of Student Council were bestowed with certificates, sashes and badges by the eminent Guests, Principal Ruchi Chabra, Principal Raj Kumar Verma, DPS Nagbani, Administrator CL Malhotra, Headmistress Meenu Gupta, Manager Operations Karandeep Sing and Senior Accounts Officer RC Gupta.
The Head Boy Jaskirat Singh of XII D, Head Girl Ishita Singh of XII F, Vice Head Boy Mahavir Singh of IX B and Vice Head Girl Vanshi Koul of IX E addressed the gathering after assuming their new responsibilities.
A total of 70 students from middle and senior classes were honoured with cabinet positions, in a solemn ceremony which was divided into three phases.
The filler was punctuated by the breathtaking cultural performances in classical dance, classical vocal song, Krishna Leela and DPS Song, which were appreciated by all the audience.
Dr Owais in his speech appreciated the efforts made by the school for providing opportunities to the students to take part in different activities and congratulated the newly appointed school cabinet.
Rahul Mahajan insisted every member to be exemplary for others and recalled his days spent in the school, while Manisha and Dr Umar Riaz encouraged the students to keep honing their talents alongside academics to excel in life.
Later, the alumni had a very enriching open interactive session with the newly inducted student body and the participants of the cultural programme.
On the occasion, Dr Owais along with other dignitaries of the school released School Newsletter ‘Pinnacle’.
The function culminated with the vote of thanks by Meenu Gupta, Headmistress.
