DPS Jammu students bring laurels in Hindustani Vocal Music Festival

JAMMU, July 23: The students of DPS Jammu brought laurels in Inter DPS Zonal Hindustani Vocal Music Festival, held at DPS Palwal (Haryana) on July 22.
The Festival was organized by DPS Society, New Delhi. DPS Jammu won 1st position in Solo Category and 3rd position in Group Song Category in the Festival. Sargam Sharma (VII G) got the first position in Solo category. She performed Chota Khayal in Raga Malkauns. She was accompanied by Unmeet Singh of (X F) on Tabla and Yashas Ranjan (8 F) on Harmonium.
In Group Song category, the school won the 3rd position in Dogri Folk. The participants were Ananya Tondon (8 A), Malvika Mohan (10 K), Medha Rastogi (8 F), Sargam Sharma (7 G), Parush Sharma (8 F), Rajkaran Slathia (10 G), Unmeet Singh (10 F) on Tabla and Yashas Ranjan (8 F) on Harmonium.
Both the teams from DPS Jammu have also qualified for the Nationals to be held later. The participants were guided by Jai Paul Gill, Daniel Sidhu and Saurabh Sharma, the music faculty of the school.
Principal, Ruchi Chabra blessed the winners along with their teacher mentors.
