JAMMU, Dec 27: To celebrate the spectacular Indian Heritage, the DPS Society, New Delhi organized an Annual Inter DPS National Heritage Festival – ‘Itihas ke Jhoroke Se 2016’ at DPS Noida, recently.
DPS Jammu participated in the 3 main events –‘Juloos – Celebratory Processions in India’, ‘Crowning Glory – Kesh Vinyas’- display of traditional Indian Hair Styles and ‘Inter – DPS National Art Exhibition 2016’.
Out of several branches of DPS which competed for this event nationally, DPS Jammu secured Jury Appreciation Award in ‘Kesh Vinyas’ wherein the children depicted the traditional decorative hairstyle won by Brokpa tribe of Leh and Kargil and also prepared a comprehensive research file complete with samples, photographs and anecdotes. In the Inter – DPS National Art Exhibition, the school won the coveted 3rd position in category A (VI-VIII) for beautiful depiction of Folk Art in mix media. The judgement was based on originality, creativity, relevance to theme, visual impact and projection. In the ‘Juloos’ competition, the school team won the 5th position for their very lively performance of ‘Gatka’, which was highly appreciated for its depth of research, costumes & props used, uniqueness and authenticity of its concept, entertainment and educational value.
The winners of ‘Kesh Vinyas’ were Sohiela Sharma-XI, Saher Gupta-XI, Rajnandini-XI and Jaskeerant Singh-XII. The team was mentored by Tanvi Gupta.
The winner of the Art Exhibition was Devansh Bhalla- VIII. He was guided by Suresh Sharma (HoD Art & Craft).
The 5th position Holders of ‘Juloos’ were Bhuvandeep Singh-IX, Jaskirat Singh-IX, Har Ranjan Pal Singh-IX, Damanpreet Singh-IX, Sarabjot Singh-IX, Javan Karan Singh Negi-IX, Ishwarjot Singh-X, Simrat Kour-X, Prathishtha V. Johar -X, Sukhwmit Kaur-XI, Priya Jain -XI, Sahiba Masood-X, Gurleen Kour-IX, Shristi Ahuja-XI and Mahavir Singh-XI. The team was mentored by Amandeep Singh and Paramjit Singh, and was escorted by Rajinder Singh and Vineeta Gupta.
Principal, DPS Jammu, Ruchi Chabra and Headmistress Meenu Gupta lauded the efforts of the students for their achievement.
