DPS organizes Inter House Football Tourney

JAMMU, May 14: Three day long Inter House Football Tournament (under-10) organized by Sports Department of Delhi Public School (DPS) concluded here today.
It was organized in an endeavour to promote the level of sports and games of the junior students of the school. In the tourney, five houses namely Chenab, Ganga, Jhelum, Tawi and Yamuna participated.
The final match was played between Jhelum House and Tawi House, in which latter emerged as winner by straight 4-0 goals. The goals for the winning team were scored by Anique of class (D).
Meenu Gupta, Headmistress stated that it is important to organize such sports activities for the students to teach them patience, social interaction, team spirit and how to win or lose gracefully.
Ruchi Chabra, Principal stressed that the students should participate more and more to inculcate sportsmanship among them.
Meanwhile, Inter House Chess Tournament for under-17 girls and boys was also organized by the Department of Physical Education and Sports at DPS. Five teams–Chenab, Jhelum, Ganga, Tawi and Yamuna houses participated in the said event.
The first position in boys section was bagged by Navdeep Singh of Tawi House and Priyank Koul of Chenab House bagged second position. In girls section, Rimjin Bhat of Yamuna House and Aparna Sharma of Yamuna House bagged first and second positions respectively.
