JAMMU, Aug 7: Representing District Kathua, Delhi Public School Rajbagh lifted the title trophy in the Divisional Level Inter-District Under-17 boys Suborto Mukerjee Cup, organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports at KC Public School grounds, Paloura, here today.
The Tournament is being held under the patronage of the Director General Youth Services and Sports, Navin Agarwal.
Only two teams turned up for the Tournament and the other team was from KC Public School, Jammu.
DPS trounced KCPS by two goals to one (2-1). After a brilliant start by both the teams, it was Namandeep Singh from District Jammu, who pelted a splendid goal in the 25th minute of the match. However, Atin Khajuria of District Kathua scored an equalizer in the 55th minute. Then Ujwal Singh of District Kathua scored a field goal in 60th minute to give Kathua a much needed lead and the match ended with the same margin in favour of DPS Rajbagh, Kathua.
DPS Kathua will now represent Jammu Division while locking horns with Kashmir Division, wherein the winner will represent the State in the forthcoming Suborto Mukerjee Cup National Football Championship at Delhi.
The match was officiated by Bharat Bhushan, Rohit Gupta, Mohinder Singh and Ajay Kumar.
