UDHAMPUR, Dec 23: A weeklong event regarding Annual Sports Day as well as Fit India Movement, organized by Delhi Public School Udhampur, concluded in the School premises, here today.
The playground of the School was decorated on the theme of fit India, while the event began with lighting of the Olympics torch, followed by a fitness oath by the sports captain of the School.
Pro vice-chairman of the School, Dr JC Gupta was the chief guest, while MD Vivek Gupta was the guest of honour and Ashok Sharma (Retd. Director Sports) and Shyam Swaroop were the special guests along with Academics Director DPSU Sucheta Gupta and Principal Dr Kunal Anand.
The main aim of this event was to prepare kids for tomorrow’s challenge. In today’s era the children who are fit can handle the day-to-day physical and emotional challenges in a better manner.
The chief guest guided the students and teachers to be on the path of fitness and wellness. He stated that now-a-days, everyone is engaged in front of screens and less physical activity can be seen amongst the masses hence DPS Udhampur has taken initiative to educate masses about physical, mental and social health.
Various fitness activities including track & field events such as 100 mtrs race, 200 mtrs race, lemon race, hurdle race, relay race, baton race, meditative asana of Yoga were organized for teachers and students.
The winners of various sports events were felicitated with certificates and medals by the dignitaries.
