JAMMU, May 31: Senior BJP leader, Dr Darakhshan Andrabi delivered Shaheed Principal Omprakash Bagga Memorial Lecture in a one-day peace conference held today at Hoshyarpur in Punjab.
The conference was attended by legislators, many Ministers of Punjab Government in addition to many sitting Members of Parliament and dignitaries from State and out of State.
On the occasion, Dr Andrabi released a vision document on peace published by Shaheed Bagga Memorial Trust. Dr Andrabi was honoured by the Trust for her outstanding contribution for prorogation of universal brotherhood, tolerance, peace and inclusiveness in the troubled State of Jammu & Kashmir.
While speaking on the occasion, Dr Andrabi said that the present world cannot tolerate violence and the perpetrators of violence at all and the future of the world belongs to peace. “All religions preach peace. Islam means peace and whatever disrupts peace cannot be Islamic. Being a proud Muslim I am the advocate of peace, tolerance and universal brotherhood. Vedas also gave us the concept of Vasudaiv Kutumbkam (Whole world is my family),” said Darakhshan Andrabi.
She said that like Punjab, the people of our State know what it means to face violence as a daily routine for years. “The present world cannot approve bloodshed and only true religious teachings can change our myopic outlook and lead us to inclusiveness and love and peace”, she added.
