JAMMU, Jan 3: MLA RS Pura Dr.Gagan Bhagat, showing his keen interest in making surroundings pollution free, has appealed the people of his Constituency to start using CFL (Compact Fluorescent Lamp) instead of electric bulb at felicitation function at Ward No.12 RS Pura.
He explained, CFLs use roughly 1/4 as much energy as incandescent bulbs. This means that you can light a 60 watt fixture using as little as 13 watts of electricity.
While talking on ban on polythene, Dr Bhagat explained various drawbacks of Polythene. Polythene is not biodegradable and if dumped in the soil causes harm to the plant life, as the toxic substances of polythene get blocked among the soil particles, he added.
Moreover, Dr Bhagat explained an important point regarding polythene. Polythene is also likely to clog the drains causing problems in the water flow of the pipes. The pipe blockages would cause flooding and the free flow of water is disturbed. Similar problem is seen everywhere in all wards of RS Pura. He quoted that every day he gets various complains regarding the same. He instructed EO Department also to take corrective steps and at the same time requested citizens to help the Department.
Dr Bhagat also showed his keen interest towards basic fundamentals, which are required to uplift and for betterment of R S Pura Constituency. He assured that if we take these things seriously and put sincere efforts for three months, we can change the current scenario and take one step ahead, towards the “Swachh Bharat Abhiyan”.
