Dr Bhasin delivers Brig A K Sarma Oration

JAMMU, Dec 18: During 81st ASICON (Annual Conference of Association of Surgeons of India underway from 17th to 19th December) Dr Sanjay Kumar Bhasin, former Head and presently Professor of Surgery GMC Jammu delivered prestigious Brig (Dr) A K Sen Sarma Oration (Endowment Lecture) on the topic “Usual & Unusual Locations of Abdominal Hydatid”.
Dr Sanjay Kumar Bhasin is the 16th surgeon from all over India who has been bestowed with this Oration by the biggest Surgeons body of India and second largest in the world (Association of Surgeons of India). He is first Surgeon from JKUT who has been conferred this honour. The few other prominent national surgeons of repute who got this honour in the past are Dr V N Shrikhande (Mumbai), Dr Arvind Kumar (Delhi), Dr H Ramesh (Cochi), Dr Ramesh Agarwallla (Kolkata) and Dr Pawinder Lal (Delhi).
The Citation of Dr Sanjay Kumar Bhasin reads as: “Dr Sanjay Kumar Bhasin, MBBS; DHA, MS, FMAS, FAIS is a competent general and laparoscopic surgeon, a brilliant academician, a writer, excellent orator, philanthropist, social activist, a teacher & guide, capable administrator is bestowed upon the prestigious Brig (Dr) A K Sen Sarma Oration by the Association of Surgeons of India in recognition of his brilliant services to the Profession & the Society.”
Pertinently, Dr Sanjay Kumar Bhasin has 30 years standing as medical professional & philanthropist and 22 years standing as a dynamic surgeon and is known to be a versatile orator and able administrator with vast knowledge of rules. He is honorary secretary of the J&K chapter of Association of Surgeons of India.
