JAMMU, May 22: A mega sports event was organized by Orzuv Sports Centre at Jagti Migrant Township in which a large number of sportspersons participated.
Chairperson Waqaf Development Committee of Govt of India Dr Darakhshan Andrabi was the Chief Guest on the occasion, while prominent among others, the programme was attended by a galaxy of prominent people including Prof B L Zutshi, Dr Dhar, M K Yogi and Subhash Zutshi.
She declared open the sports event which commenced with a Volleyball match.
Dr Andrabi distributed prizes among the participants. In her address she said that Sports provide a binding platform which in the long run creates an atmosphere of harmony and equality in the society.
“We need to inculcate true sports sentiment in the youth of our state to fight the regional, religious and linguistic polarization within the state. It was very sad to see our state being divided on the basis of superiority of one over the other and only our new generation can fight this divisive attitude of our politicians,” said Dr Darakhshan.
She said that the state needs peace to keep the pace of the rest of the country for development in all spheres of life, adding that it is very pinching to see politicians incite violence and erect their political estate on the dead bodies of our youth.
She lauded the efforts of Subhash Zutshi, the chief organizer for organizing this mega event in smooth and successful manner.
