JAMMU, May 17: Three plays, written by Dr Gian Singh, were released during a function organized in this connection by Samooh Theatre and Sanskar Bharti Jammu and Kashmir, here today.
N D Jamwal, a living legend, noted Dogri writer and artist was chief guest on the occasion while D K Vaid, noted Dogri writer and convener Sahitya Academy, New Delhi, presided over the function.
Mohan Singh, noted Dogri dramatist and theatre activist also shared the presidium and presented a research paper on the three plays, written by Dr Gian Singh, namely Bawa Jitmatmal , Saa-Basaa and Bawa Kaliveer.
N D Jamwal said that Dr. Gian Singh was serving to the Dogri language andf literature through Dogri drama since the past so many years and by his relentless efforts, the Dogri language is enriching and alleviating in term of standard and modern parameters of playwriting.
D K Vaid, in his presidential address, said that pace and understanding of play writing of Dr Gian Singh will definitely inspire to the young and budding playwrights of the Duggar land.
Two scenes from the play from Bawa Jitmal and Kaliveer, under the direction of Ravinder Sharma were also enacted by the artists of Samooh Theatre and mesmerized the audience present on this occasion. The artists included Sandeep Manhas, Sandeep Thakur , Shubam Thakur, Abhishake Sharama, Chetan Chark, Rohan Sharma, Samdish Kumar, Pallvi Jamwal and Aashima Datta.
Earlier, Dr Sudhir Mahajan founder Samooh Theatre, in his welcome address gave a brief of the programme and also disclosed about the programme especially with reference to the promotion informed that the plays released today have already been staged by Samooh Theatre in the prestigious State and National Theatre festivals.
Dr Gian Singh , writer of the plays and former Additional Secretary JAKAACL, presented vote of thanks to all the guests for making the function successful and their overwhelming response for Dogri language and literature.
The function was attended by various prominent writers of different languages, including Punjabi, Kashmiri and Hindi besides Dogri.
