JAMMU, Sept 22: Dr Ghanshyam N Jha, Scientist-Fishery of Krishi Vigyan Kendra-Doda at Bhaderwah of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences & Technology of Jammu received prestigious Gold medal award of Coldwater Fisheries Society of India (CFSI) for the year 2017 today at ICAR-Directorate of Coldwater Fisheries Research, Bhimtal, Nainital, Uttarakhand.
A reputed panel of very senior level scientists from different corners of the country recommended and announced only three names for this prestigious award, and Dr. Jha was one of them.
The medal was awarded during inaugural session of National Seminar on “Strategies, Innovations and Sustainable Management for Enhancing Coldwater Fisheries and Aquaculture” being organized during September 22 to 24, 2017 at DCFR to Dr. Jha for his innovative attitude, introduction of new technologies in Doda district of Jammu & Kashmir, and his overall achievements in the fisheries sector by the Padmshree Prof. RC Sobti, VC, BBAU-Lucknow and Dr. AK Singh, Director, ICAR-DCFR.
Dr. Jha has made noticeable contribution in the overall fisheries sector development in district Doda and have introduced several new technologies like poly-lining of pond for fisheries & water storage; vegetable based integrated fish farming system; ornamental fisheries & aquarium manufacturing as an enterprise, etc., and attracted several youths to adopt fisheries in any form as important part of their livelihood.
