JAMMU, Jan 10: Noted Urdu poet, Dr Liaqat Jafri will represent Jammu and Kashmir State in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, in international Urdu poetry festival being organized by Embassy of India in UAE and Karwan e Urdu Qatar.
He will participate in series of International Urdu Mushairas to be held in Doha Qattar, Riyadh, Jaddah, Dammam, Jubail and Sharjah commencing on 12th to 24th January 2018.
Author of half a dozen books in Urdu, Dr Jafri is a reputed editor of three Urdu magazines published by J&K and New Delhi. Recipient of many national and State awards for his outstanding contributions in the field of poetry, prose, theatre, film and Urdu activism, Liaqat is a noted critic as well.
Presently, Liaqat is working HOD Urdu in Higher Education Department, in J&K Government.
