POONCH, Apr 26: The meritorious students of Government Boys Higher Secondary School, Ghani, a far-flung border belt of Mendhar were today felicitated by Dr Shazad Malik, vice chancellor of Sai Nath University in presence of school staff and prominent people of the this remote and backward area.
Dr Malik, a local from Poonch, gave away cash prizes worth Rs 30,000 to six meritorious students including Rs 7000, 5000 and 3000 each to 1st three meritorious students of class 10th and class 12th. He appreciated the principal and teachers of the school, who helped the students of this remote area to achieve outstanding results.
The students were also given stationery items on the occasion. For the promotion of sports activities amongst talented rural youth, Dr Malik provided Rs 30,000 for the development of local playground. Half a dozen cricket kits were also provided to the youth of the area on this occasion. Sadiq Chauhan, Principal of the school expressed gratitude to Dr Malik for his valuable contribution in this remote border area.
