JAMMU, Dec 23: Dr Satwant Singh Rissam, a noted columnist of Jammu, has been appointed as additional co-convenor of INTACH Jammu Chapter.
INTACH is one of the prestigious institutions of the country founded in 1984 in New Delhi with the vision to create a membership organization to stimulate and spearhead heritage awareness and conservation in India.
Since last 36 years, INTACH has pioneered the conservation and protection of India’s natural and cultural heritage and is today the largest membership organization in India dedicated to conservation.
INTACH undertakes restoration of monuments and their management; advocacy for heritage property conservation and public awareness. In 2007, the United Nations awarded INTACH a special consultative status with United Nations Economic and Social Council. INTACH has 170 Chapters across Indian cities, as well as Chapters in Belgium and the United Kingdom.
